Centre MARTA Pre-Election Debate
Centre MARTA is travelling to five regions of Latvia to bring together women standing as parliamentary candidates and voters for a series of pre-election debates.
About the event
Safety and equality are not issues that can be summed up in a few words in party manifestos or omitted altogether. They require concrete answers, clear positions, and political action.
That is why, ahead of the elections to the 15th Saeima, Centre MARTA is travelling to five regions of Latvia to bring together women standing as parliamentary candidates and voters for a series of pre-election debates.
We will discuss issues that directly affect our daily lives and the kind of Latvia we will live in over the next four years:
- The Istanbul Convention and the prevention of violence;
- Educating children and young people about healthy relationships;
- The role of civil society and NGOs
- The state’s responsibility for building a safe and equal society;
- And other issues that will provide a better understanding of the candidates’ vision for safety, equality, and the society we want to build together.
These will not simply be discussions about party manifestos. We will hear the candidates’ positions, priorities, and proposed solutions while giving voters an opportunity to ask questions and engage in direct dialogue with those seeking a seat in the next Saeima.
