A quarter with a literary soul in the heart of Cēsis Old Town. Andrejs Pumpurs once lived here and wrote the epic Lāčplēsis in this very house. The buildings in the quarter are named after the epic’s central characters – Lāčplēsis, Spīdala, and Laimdota.

Coming soonIt was in this house that Andrejs Pumpurs wrote Lāčplēsis, Latvia’s most significant national epic. Today, the building is being carefully restored, preparing to open its doors as a new design hotel in the heart of Cēsis Old Town in spring 2027.
Coming soonLaimdota, Lāčplēsis’ beloved and the daughter of Burtnieks, embodies light, loyalty, wisdom, and love for one’s homeland. This house will become a reading room dedicated to Latvian original literature.
