Chess festival Cēsis 2024
This year in June, the Third International Chess Festival “Cēsis” will take place in Cēsis for seven days. Chess players will have the opportunity to play in eight tournaments, which will take place in various locations in Cēsis.
Just like last year, this year in Cēsis chess will be “brought” to the urban environment. Three of the festival tournaments will take place outdoors – in the Maija Park event tents. Between games, both chess players and their companions will have the opportunity to take a breather in the recreation area, play a game of novus or simply enjoy the summer atmosphere of the festival on loungers.

2024 tournament list
The “Draugiem Group” rapid and blitz tournament will take place on June 15 and 16 in the open air at Maija Park. A total of 27 games will be played in 2 stages: a rapid stage with nine 10+5 games and a rapid stage with nine 3+2 double rounds (18 games). Participants will also have the option to play in only one – rapid or blitz stage.
The Maija Park open-air tournaments will conclude on the evening of June 16 with the Swedish chess competition for teams.
From June 17 to 20, the SIGNET BANK classic tournament will take place in the “Cēsis” concert hall for four days in 8 rounds with standard chess time control – 90+30 minutes.
From June 18 to 20, the concert hall will also host three classification tournaments for beginners, IV and III sports classes.
The festival will conclude on June 21 with the Go girl! girls' rapid chess tournament, which will take place at the Cēsis Castle Exhibition Hall.
Side events are also planned during the festival, which the organizers will inform about in the spring. The total prize pool for all festival tournaments will be 6,000 euros. Apply by filling out the registration form.
The Maija Park open-air tournaments will conclude on the evening of June 16 with the Swedish chess competition for teams.
