The large-format photography exhibition “Defending Freedom” has opened in the Glass Hall of the Draugu House Gallery at Konrāds Quarter.
The exhibition features photographs taken in 2025 and 2026 from the archives of the 20th “Liubart” Brigade of the National Guard of Ukraine, documenting the soldiers’ daily lives. The photographs offer an insight into the brigade’s training, resilience, and everyday reality as its soldiers defend Ukraine.
The exhibition was created in cooperation with the 2nd Vidzeme Brigade of the Latvian National Guard and also reflects the broader cooperation between the Latvian National Guard and the 1st “Azov” Corps of the National Guard of Ukraine.
The exhibition will also feature footage filmed on Ukraine’s front lines by war correspondent Jānis Vingris. In 2022, immediately following Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the TVNET journalist travelled to the country several times to document events in Kyiv and Kherson, as well as in frontline hotspots including Orikhiv, Lyman and other locations.
In 2026, the 2nd Vidzeme Brigade of the Latvian National Guard signed an official cooperation agreement with the 20th “Liubart” Brigade of the National Guard of Ukraine, strengthening collaboration between the two units. The exhibition is a visible testament to this partnership—a bond between soldiers and two nations united by a shared understanding of the importance of defending their land, their people, and their freedom.
The 2nd Vidzeme Brigade invites everyone to visit the exhibition as a tribute to the unwavering resolve of Ukraine’s defenders and as a reminder to us all: freedom endures only for as long as we are prepared to defend it.
The exhibition will be open daily till 30 November, from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Admission is free.
Freedom and security demand action! In cooperation with the Entrepreneurs for Peace foundation, we invite everyone to join the defenders of freedom. Our goal is to purchase and deliver a modern unmanned ground vehicle to the soldiers of the 20th “Liubart” Brigade. In modern warfare, an unmanned ground vehicle is an indispensable asset: it carries out dangerous missions, delivers ammunition to the most intense combat zones, and helps evacuate wounded soldiers from areas under fire.
Donate towards the unmanned ground vehicle through the
Entrepreneurs for Peace platform or by making a bank transfer to account LV68HABA0551055963913 (Entrepreneurs for Peace).
Every donation brings victory one step closer and sends a clear message: we stand together until the very end - until Ukraine’s victory.
