Design hotel “Spīdalas nams” opened in the Old Town

“Homes, environment and school are the three main components for a city to be alive,” says “Draugiem Group” spokesperson Jānis Palkavnieks. “In the new “Spīdalas nams” we will be waiting for city guests to “try on” Cēsis, as well as Cēsis residents, to introduce them to the changes that will be expected in the “Konrāda kvartāls” after the renovation. With these works, we want to show respect for the historical heritage of the old town.”

“I would like to thank “Draugiem Group”, which has already been involved in several development projects in Cēsis. The company has made significant investments in improving the urban environment and expanding the housing stock, making the city increasingly attractive to local residents and guests of Cēsis. Taking into account the company's international operations, “Draugiem Group” investments in the development of Cēsis are a sign of quality that confirms that Cēsis is a magnet not only for tourists, but also for investors,” said Jānis Rozenbergs, Chairman of the Cēsis Regional Council, evaluating the work of entrepreneurs in the city.
The name of the renovated house was chosen in honor of the controversial character of Andrejs Pumpurs’ epic “Lāčplēsis” – Spīdala, or Spīdola. She is described as a sorceress and witch, who initially symbolizes dark forces. However, Spīdala fights against the evil that seeks to destroy Lāčplēsis’ homeland in Latvia. Spīdala is a symbol of the spiritual strength of the people.
