Baltic Prime Ministers Explore Local Entrepreneurship During Annual Informal Meeting

“It was an honor to welcome my Baltic colleagues to Latvia and to showcase the country’s drive and warmth beyond the capital city. Visits like these not only strengthen our cooperation but also foster mutual understanding and offer a chance to discuss key issues for the Baltic region in an informal setting,” said E. Siliņa.

The visit began in Līgatne, where the guests explored local entrepreneurship, including the operations of the historic Līgatne Paper Mill. Throughout the day, the prime ministers also engaged in Latvian cultural traditions — including baking bread.

In the evening, the delegation visited Cēsis, where they learned about local civic initiatives and Draugiem Group’scontributions to the city’s development.

Mājas Cēsīs had the honor of hosting the prime ministers and their families as the first guests in the newly restored Parsonage House at Konrāds Quarter.

To close the day, the leaders attended the concert “Dedication” by world-renowned Latvian mezzo-soprano Elīna Garanča at the Vidzeme Concert Hall, experiencing the talent that Latvia proudly shares with the world.

On the second day, the prime ministers visited the Cēsis Space Education Center, where they gained hands-on insights into the importance of STEAM education for the future development of children. The visit concluded with informal discussions on the future development of the Baltic region.

Latvia currently holds the presidency of the Baltic Council of Ministers, under which this annual informal meeting of the Baltic heads of government took place.
